A New Organizational Structure for the Sony Group

New Sony Group Structure

Today we have entered into a new era of Group-wide management with the establishment of Sony Group Corporation (SGC) and the new Sony Corporation (SEC). The mission of SGC, which will be dedicated to functioning as the headquarters of the Sony Group, will be to "lead and support the evolution of the Group's businesses through its array of talent and technology." In addition to supporting each individual business, I look forward to the new organization accelerating the implementation of transformative business models, and generating new Group-wide synergies. As for the new Sony Corporation, which will assume responsibility for the electronics operations that are the origins of Sony's business together with our treasured company name, I look to everyone at the new company to leverage the "3R" (Reality, Real-time and Remote) technologies we have cultivated from our expertise in sound, video and communications, to deliver new value that connects creators with users, and embark on ground-breaking challenges for further evolution.

We will also be introducing a new motion logo for the Sony Group in conjunction with the transition to our new corporate structure. While it won't be revealed externally until May, I'm pleased to be able to share a preview with you all internally, in advance of its official launch. (Feature on new Motion Logo)

Purpose

Our Purpose is to "fill the world with emotion, through the power of creativity and technology," and our corporate direction is "getting closer to people." "People" are at the core of our six business segments - Game & Network Services, Music, Pictures, Electronics Products & Solutions, Imaging & Sensing Solutions, and Financial Services - through which we move people's hearts, connect people to people, and support people. As we embark on a new fiscal year, together with you all I look forward to exploring new ways for us to deliver Kando to people around the world through each of our six business segments. From those foundations, let's also take on the challenge of creating new forms of Kando through Group-wide synergies and collaboration.

The 2020 fiscal year was one that required us to evolve and adapt in many ways. What has remained consistent is our drive to create new value and deliver emotion to the world. That will continue unchanged as we move into the new fiscal year.

Thank you for all your feedback in response to my blog last month, "The Planet Earth as a Stakeholder." As always, I look forward to receiving your thoughts and comments.
